City advisory committee positions open to residents

The City of Richmond is calling on residents to take part in local government and contribute to the community they live in by volunteering for one of 16 advisory committees. Over 75 positions are now open for terms beginning in January.
“Our council appointed advisory committees are an important aspect of local government,” said Mayor Malcolm Brodie. “Through participation and collaboration, community members provide valuable insights and expertise. Their input directly informs strategy and decisions that impact current and future residents. And with over 16 committees, from child care, seniors, intercultural harmony, the environment, arts, agriculture and the economy—there is something of interest for everyone.”
The council appointed roles are voluntary with no remuneration. Committee sizes vary, as do the length of terms.
Those interested in applying are asked to submit their completed online application form and resume by 5 p.m. on Sept. 20. Application forms and information on the various committees, their mandates and terms of reference are available online at www.richmond.ca/cityhall/council/boards/advisory.
